Release
Attorneys’ and Clients’
Bill of Rights and Responsibilities
Every client should understand that it is not a court
of justice,
but that it is a court of law.
However, the purpose of that law is to provide a
remedy
that is as close to justice as the letter of that law can achieve.
Every client has the right to an attorney
who will treat his case as if it were her own.
Every lawyer should assure every client that she will
use
her every effort to apply the law to provide justice for her client.
Every client has the right to expect that
his attorney
will expend every effort, and will use his training,
to provide an efficient means to achieve that justice.
Every attorney will make the law fit the client’s case
and not make the client’s case fit the law.
Every client has the responsibility to
compensate the attorney for her services
~~ and ~~
Every attorney has the responsibility to invest as much effort
into every case as their clients have invested trust in them.
Every attorney has the responsibility to provide the
client with her best efforts,
and not with what little effort is most expedient for the attorney or for the
court.
All attorneys should be paid on
contingency,
and should compensate their clients when they lose,
so that each attorney will be equally invested with his or her client
to the betterment of the interests of justice.
Every client has the right to a clear explanation of
their rights under the law,
and the assurance that the legal system will provide appropriate justice,
and that their attorney will work in their best interests.
An attorney should be as zealous in his or
her advisory capacity
as when actually representing the client as their advocate.
